Precautions for aluminum profile processing
Release date:2022-07-01
During the production process of aluminum profiles, some aluminum alloy products also require subsequent aluminum profile processing, such as wire drawing and anodizing, which is particularly prone to top and scratch during stamping production.
1、 Special attention should be paid to the following points in mold manufacturing:
1. For punching holes that do not affect the number of projects, it is best to arrange them later in the project. Even for products with a large number of punching holes, it can be considered to do an additional project and also arrange the punching holes later
2. The aluminum material is relatively soft and the mold is prone to material blockage. Therefore, when designing the mold clearance, it is advisable to place a gap of 10% of the thickness of both sides of the material. The straight depth of the blade should be 2mm, and the taper should be 0.8-1 °
3. When bending and forming aluminum profiles, it is easy to generate aluminum chips during bending, which can cause scratches and indentations. The aluminum raw material needs to be coated with PE film. In the case of rollers and electroplating, it is better to polish and plating hard chromium on the forming block
4. For stamping parts that require anodizing and post-processing, if there is a flattening or pushing process of 180 °, the product cannot be fully pressed. Complete pressing will cause acid spitting, and a gap of 0.2-0.3MM needs to be left to facilitate the smooth and timely flow of acid. Therefore, limit blocks must be made in this process and the mold must be calibrated higher than the mold
5. Due to the brittleness of aluminum material and its tendency to crack, especially in the case of reverse folding, it is advisable not to make pressure lines. Even if it is necessary to do so, the pressure lines should be made wider and shallower
6. All aluminum cutting edges require the use of slow thread cutting to prevent burrs and uneven material falling, which can cause high temperatures. Therefore, the hardness of the punch is required to be above 60 °, and at least SKD11 material should be used. There should be no D2 or other poor quality punches.
2、 During stamping production, the following points should be achieved:
1. To achieve good stamping of aluminum parts and reduce defect rates, it is necessary to first do a good job of 5S, especially cleaning. The mold, punch table, assembly line, and packaging materials must be free of sharp debris, dirt, and regular cleaning. The mold must be cleaned up and down without debris
2. If large burrs are found on the product, it is necessary to promptly send it to the mold for repair and follow up until the results are achieved
3. Aluminum parts are prone to heat generation and become hard due to accumulation. Therefore, when punching and cutting, it is necessary to apply some pressing oil on the material (which can dissipate heat and smoothly clear the material) before stamping
4. For products with more punching holes, it is necessary to clean the surface of the mold to ensure that the mold and product are always clean and free of debris, reducing top damage. If any top damage is found, the root cause of the mold top damage must be identified and resolved before production can continue
5. Pushing the flat mold block will produce aluminum chips, so the aluminum chips under the block must be cleaned every day after production.
